These pups all have Fabulous new homes!. All but one will be hunting and/or training for Hunt Tests.
The one pup that went to be a "family" pet is retrieving everything in sight. The pups are 6 plus weeks old now.
They have had many visitors. Puppies and Kids are the best combo!
They all pile together to sleep whether it is soaking up the sun or snuggling in their kennel at night.
They are 5 and 1/2 weeks old now and my task is to figure out who gets who.
This is an accumulated observation decision process that I take very seriously.
At 5 weeks old they are now outside and around not only our dogs but also occasional guest dogs.
They are able to retreat to the whelping pen to rest and recharge.
These are the girls.
At 4 and 1/2 weeks old they are playing hard and sleeping hard.Getting good pictures of individual pups is very difficult.
The pups are 4 weeks old today. I woke up to a very loud puppy.
I was fortunate to have my camera handy and caught Blue getting back into the pen!
The pups are 3 1/2 weeks old now. They are up and playing for 10 minutes at a time or sleeping. We brought them out into the living room, 4 at a time. I tried to get pictures of their faces. They all took to the new environment well.
Here are some group shots, some are more independent than others.
Here are 6 day old pictures of the boys and the girls.
Gracie greeted me in bed this morning with kisses.(2-11-09)
Even thou her pain meds had worn off she jumped on my bed and snuggled like we usually do. I do believe she is truly grateful and understands she needed help to have her babies. She is The Love of My Life!
The boys have the colored tags. The girls have the pink and burgandy ribbons. They weigh between 1.05 and 2.21 lbs. Dew claws will be removed tomorrow afternoon.
Gracie had 8 pups via C Section on (2-10-09) at 5 pm.
She had been in labor since 10 pm on 2-9-09. At 3:30 pm today I called the Vet as her labor was spacing out with no progress. The 1st pup in line to come out had his face turned totally sideways, shoulders and profiles don't decend well. All the other pups were backed up and she had huge saddlebags on each side. All the pups were born quickly, carefully and with no complications. That first Big Boy came out telling us all about his ordeal. She has 8 beautiful, strong healthy pups > 6 males and 2 females. I have not weighed or put tags or ribbons on them yet. Both Gracie and I are very tired.
I highly recommend these
three books to everyone who buys my pups, or loves labs.
